SAP BTP pricing can be complex, but choosing the right model helps you save costs and scale confidently. Whether you’re launching small apps or managing large enterprise solutions, understanding the pricing structure is key to making smarter cloud decisions.
I’ve had a few requests asking about SAP BTP pricing, so here’s a quick breakdown in a simple format:

Understanding SAP BTP Pricing & Making the Right Choice for Your Cloud Strategy
- Pay-As-You-Go: Ideal for small-scale apps, proof-of-concepts, or pilots. You pay only for what you use beyond the free tier, offering flexibility to scale at your own pace.
- Enterprise Agreement (CPEA): A consumption-based model for larger, dynamic projects. Starting at ~$11,087 per year, it gives you access to a variety of services with cloud credits, offering predictable billing.
- Subscription: Best for businesses with consistent needs. Commit to specific services for 1-3 years, locking in fixed pricing for greater control.
You pay only for what you use beyond the free tier, with the flexibility to scale. For more on cloud vs on-premise options, check out Choosing Between S/4HANA On-Premise and Cloud.
Key Insight: SAP BTP is a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) that extends and integrates SAP applications. It runs on hyperscaler platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, allowing you to purchase services either through SAP or directly from the hyperscaler for more granular cost control.
For example, you can integrate Azure Database for PostgreSQL or AWS RDS with your BTP setup, combining services for optimized performance and savings.

How to Choose: Before choosing a plan, evaluate your SAP BTP pricing options carefully. Ask your development partner to compare services, including open-source alternatives, to avoid overpaying.
